YADEF THEORY OF CHANGE – ToC

At YADEF, we nurture, mature and give exposure to young people as actors to transform the planet through sustainable development. This is why we work tirelessly to establish pathways to tackle the many specific issues that youths face. We build skills, empower youths and increase access to information, use and advancement of ICT as vital tools for youths to optimize in building society

We revitalize youth potentials to be initiators of change, mobilizing youth actions through collective efforts in programs and projects. We prioritize mutual partnerships to improve our effectiveness and efficiency to better serve youths and vulnerable communities. We move these partnerships stronger with synergies that will have multiplier effects on the development of youths and women.

We have a unique identity as a creative, research and solution oriented, action driven amplifying laboratory, advocating, and fostering inclusive, innovative, impactful, and progressive development policies to promote inclusive youth participation and engagement at national, regional, and global levels.

We advocate for an enabling environment for youths to step up and play their role as the dynamic, vibrant and energetic driving force of their development as individuals and as communities.

How do we bring this change?

We Educate, We Protect and We Empower;

  • “We educate the minds, enhance skills and build capacities, increase access to information and lifelong opportunities – making youths and women ready to create wealth. We mentor to help them overcome external distractions and be resilient. We advocate for increase protection of women, girls and youths, we stand for good policies and support the philosophy of passionate leaders who will represent our aspirations. We say NO to War, NO to Conflict, NO to Violence… so that educated youths and women can have an enabling socio-economic and political environment to grow, development, execute their ideas and initiatives, create opportunities and for themselves and others.
  • We protect – reinforce social protection systems and continue echoing peace and social cohesion to build bridges and bonds.
  • And finally, we empower – provide the resources, the technology, the connections, the technical support to help change makers overcome challenges of growth and share experiences. While empowering, we provide platforms for research and innovation so that the existing solutions keep experiencing value added. This is embedded in our theory of change – we nurture youth initiatives, mature them, and then give them exposure and empowerment in different facets of life. We  strengthen the capacities of the youths of Cameroon through our strategic plan, helping them to fly to a world of opportunities and freedom by mobilizing the goodwill and support of the international community, governments, civil society, etc. and the youths of Cameroon themselves.

Furthermore, we regulate the push for change in the regulatory framework to mobilize domestic resources, create wealth and eradicate poverty and hunger. We remove communication challenges which limit access to information to women, girls and youths in rural Cameroon.

We promote the respect for human rights, peace and advocating for political stability and security for all youths and women, by actively involving all stakeholders to avert their participation in cases of violence and extremisms. With this, we are able to ensure a secure political, economic and social environment for youth flourishing.

With an inspired community development cooperation and participation, distinguished co-leadership and ever expanding and committed community outreach efforts of YADEF, our dream of an inclusive and better future for all youths  in Cameroon draws closer each day. We do this not just for the sake of today but to impact youths and women for months, years and centuries to come. We keep accountability and transparency very high in all actions and communications to build and maintain goodwill for the organization.

Approximately, 75% of Cameroon’s population is below 35years of age, filling our country with incredible potential and energy to achieve the expected development. But despite all this, factors such as poverty, hunger, inequalities, lack of quality education, uneven distribution of healthcare, lack of ICT skills, inaccessibility to information, unemployment, insecurity, inaccessible clean water, sanitation and hygiene facilities, little or no involvement of youths in decision making, governance and leadership, drugs and most recently (2016) the crisis in the North West and South West regions have crippled the potentials of youths in Cameroon. But the good thing is that ALL is not lost.

Today, we see Cameroonian youths lacking safe convening space, exposure and inability to get rid of these challenges and develop sustainably. This is where YADEF comes in with actions that are development focus putting the community at the centre and championing the removing of gender inequalities and other external societal constraints that limit the personal development of youths, women and girls in Cameroon.
