Our Methodology /Approach
At YADEF, we use the Community-based Development (CBD) – motivating women, girls, boys and men and the community to participate and contribute in the development process. This allows them to express their needs and to decide their future with a view to their empowerment. This implies that we engage and work inclusively with communities themselves and their leaders to identify development priorities and needs, develop strategies and implement solutions that are tailored to their specific needs.
We recognize the potentials of the local communities, the local resources and their capacities and we accompany them towards enhancing their resilience and empowerment. Meaning in all phases of our community projects, we engaged communities in decision making and management with the goal of recognizing and using local skills, capacities, knowledge to run more effective, impactful and sustainable projects.
We blend CBD approach with education, community enlightenment and research for data-driven decision-making and development. We believe that knowledge is power and power brings change. How young people can use education to transform their communities positively for sustainable development. YADEF aspire a society where educated and empowered youths feel protected and get engaged actively in piloting the affairs of our inclusive communities. To achieve this, promote access quality education for youths and women – a system where the skills and capacity of youths will be tailored towards societal consciousness and problem solving, a system where youths and women will be able to articulate ideas and choose career trajectories for life enhancement which will be beneficial for personal development and for the positive advancement of society for the good of all.
Quality education is the best tool to provide enlightenment, skills and capacities to break the chains of poverty in underdeveloped communities. While providing this access to quality education, we promote respect for human rights and mitigating protection risks and championing the advocacy for the elimination of those rules and policies which keep poor people poor. We also take the lead in reinforcing social protection mechanisms and initiative peace building processes, social cohesion and inclusiveness to ensure people live in peace. With safe, peaceful and inclusive community environment, we empower youths, women and less privileged persons to take lead in piloting the affairs of their lives and communities for sustainable development. This is what makes us unique as a power house for youth development, women empowerment and sustainable development in Cameroon. This is simply because we take the lead in providing sustainable solutions to the critical needs (education, protection, and empowerment) of less privileged to help them break those rules which keep poor people poor.
